Driver
Pass Plus London
Pass Plus
is
a training course offered nationally by the Driving Standards Agency
(DSA).
The course is aimed at new drivers and builds upon existing skills and knowledge. LRSU offered financial support to young people in London who chose to take part in the Pass Plus London research scheme, which tracked their driving history for 3 years. This scheme ran in London between 2005 and 2009. During this time, over 10,000 new drivers took advantage of the scheme. The DSA continues to offer the Pass Plus scheme.
In-car safety
In 2008 LRSU held a one day In-car safety training course for road safety professionals. The aim of the course was to show how to correctly fit child restraints and how to guide others in doing so. With so many different child seats available, the course provided a wide range of cars on which to practice, from a two-door saloon car to a people carrier.
Drugs Driving Training
In 2008 LRSU offered a Drugs Driving training seminar to road safety professionals from across London. Drug expert Dr. Liam Watson, from Drugs Education Training, gave a detailed insight into the various drugs, including their supply, cost and affects. The seminar was also used to consider projects and ideas for drugs driving education in London.
