The engineering team recommends improvements to London's roads to increase safety for all road users. They study collision data and highlight areas with the highest number of collisions.
These areas are then analysed and engineering measures which will reduce collisions are recommended. After measures have been implemented LRSU continues to monitor collisions to make sure that they reduce.
The TLRN is made up of roads that are owned and maintained by Transport for London (TfL).
The TLRN is identified by red routes (red lines are used instead of yellow lines, yellow lines are used on borough roads).
Five per cent of the roads in London are TLRN but they carry about a third (approximately 33 per cent) of the city's traffic. These are the key routes or major arterial roads in London.
