Multimedia campaigns – cyclists

Cyclists and freight sharing the road together

Message/strap line

Sharing the road

Audience

  • Cyclists
  • Freight drivers

Aims

  • To reduce collisions involving cyclists and Freight vehicles
  • To increase cyclists' and freight drivers awareness of the road safety issues experienced by each other

Concept

The film follows both a cyclist and freight vehicle driver across London, during a typical journey. Along the way the cyclist and driver highlight the issues they face, including cycling assertively, checking to see that you’ve been seen, and vehicle blind spots.

The two then talk through their experiences, to aid mutual understanding and make the roads safer for them both.

Media elements

DVD– The full length version of the film is available on DVD to both Road Safety Officers, and Freight operators who are part of the Freight Operators Recognition Scheme (FORS).

Online – The highlights version is available online on the TfL Cycling website, visit www.tfl.gov.ukThis is an external site.
